My name is Filip, I’m a 24 year old student from Szczecin, Poland.

Where did you meet photography or where did photography meet you? I guess I met photography when I was about 16 y.o. For me the photography back then was heavy as a bucket full of mud, inconvenient and weird. Its name was Mamiya RB67. I’ve felt in love with it instantly, funny thing is I still have it.

What do you do when you don’t have a camera in your hand? When I don’t have my camera in my hands I probably listen to some music, develop / scan photos, ride my BMX bike or think about something to shoot.

I’ve never been to any kind of photography school or college so I’m not quite sure about where the wisdom and instinct of a good photographer comes from. I would say it’s all about you and your eye. It has nothing to do with your camera because it’s only a tool you use. It’s about the imagination, about knowing the theory and knowing when you can bend it without breaking it.

What annoys you the most in this profession? What annoys me about photography or I should say so-called photography is that people only need a bit of money to buy yourself a modern and fancy DSLR and they call themselves “photographers” shooting billions of pics all the time without even thinking. Let’s be honest: a piece of paper and something to write with have been available around for centuries. Not many of new skilled writers are out there though.

What’s in your camera bag? Mamiya takes a lot of space so I’m not able to carry everything in one bag. I have the Nikon F100 for 35mm film, few strobes with triggers, an old soviet 6x6 Kiev and a DSLR which is my tired fellow Canon 7D. Basically the equipment I can rely on. I’m still trying out new gear to find my dream set but the F100 and RB67 are definitely favourite. I dream about some Leica M and Mamiya 7 but they have to wait for a few years.

Pearls of wisdom for fellow photographers to be? I am not the one to give even a small piece of advice without being asked so I just respectfully ask you not to be one of THOSE guys ;) …and listen to Slayer.
